Murex is a Shopify embedded application providing sell-through analytics and inventory intelligence for merchants. Here's exactly what we collect, how we use it, and how we protect it.

Data We Collect

Merchant Store Data

The app accesses and stores:

  • Product catalog data (titles, variants, SKUs, prices, inventory levels, collections, images)
  • Aggregated order data (units sold and revenue totals per SKU across time windows of 7, 14, 30, 60 days). We read order data only to compute aggregated metrics and do not persist individual order records.
  • Store configuration (fulfillment location, sales channels, app preferences)

Merchant Staff Data

Session tokens for authentication may include staff member’s first name, last name, email address, and locale from Shopify’s OAuth flow.

Data We Do Not Collect

  • Customer PII (names, emails, addresses, phone numbers)
  • Payment or billing information
  • Individual order contents or shipping details
  • Browser cookies or tracking data

How We Use Your Data

Data is used exclusively for app functionality: calculating sell-through rates, velocity, and days-of-supply metrics; generating inventory risk assessments; producing bestseller rankings; and managing merchandising updates.

We do not sell, rent, or share your data with third parties.

Data Storage & Security

Data is stored in PostgreSQL on Supabase infrastructure with GDPR compliance. All data is transmitted over encrypted connections (TLS/HTTPS).

Data Retention & Deletion

  • On app uninstall: session data deleted immediately; store data retained 48 hours
  • After 48 hours: Shopify sends redaction request; all data permanently deleted
  • On request: immediate deletion available from Settings page

GDPR Compliance

No customer PII stored, so no customer data disclosure obligations. Shop data erasure occurs upon receiving Shopify’s redaction webhook.

Shopify API Access

Murex requests the following permissions: read_inventory, read_orders, read_locations, write_products, read_publications.

Changes to This Policy

Material changes trigger date updates and merchant notification via app or email.
